Description: This recipe is similar from Kiszona Kapusta but this time it involves sauerkraut with beans. While sauerkraut itself just means fermented cabbage this recipe pretty much adds beans to the mix to add a source of protein to the sauerkraut. It is a very common recipe served during Christmas Eve dinner to add to the meatless dishes served that night in the Polish tradition.

Ingredients:
2 lbs of sauerkraut
1 (12 oz) can of garbanzo beans
3-5 bay leaves
Salt
Pepper
Directions:
Soak garbanzo beans in a bowl of water for 24-48 hours.
Place the beans in a medium sized pot of water and cook until they are soft. Then put the beans to the side.
Rinse the sauerkraut and cut it into smaller pieces and cook in a separate pot then beans.
Add 3-5 bay leaves onto sauerkraut and add salt and pepper to add flavor.
Once sauerkraut is softer add in already cooked beans and mix.
Chill and then serve.
